The Glitch

Half a smile froze mid-pixel. The call stuttered, then broke into fragments—eyes here, a mouth there, laughter cut in static.
I waited for the screen to catch up, for the pieces to realign into the person I knew. But the moment had already slipped away.
On the other side, maybe they were speaking, maybe they were silent. All I saw was a glitch, and all I felt was distance.
